The main goal is to create the first dark sky park in Serbia. The largest astronomical observatory in the Balkans is located at the mentioned location, with a telescope with a 1.4m diameter mirror called Milutin Milanković. There are also two smaller telescopes of 60cm and 45cm. Next to it is a camp where it is planned to build a scientific and recreational center “Beli kamen” which will provide accommodation facilities for high school students, students, but also during the year for tourist visitors and other astronomy lovers. This initiative is jointly implemented by the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia, the city of Prokuplje with the Center for the Promotion of Science, the association Carpe Noctem, the Alpha Astronomical Society from Niš and the Faculty of Science and Mathematics from Niš. The idea is to build a center for the development of astronomy in Serbia where, in addition to the promotion of science, the organization of camps and astronomical events, STEM workshops, research in the field of astrophysics and scientific events will be organized using equipment from the observatory.
