Our mission is to leverage the powerful intersection of astronomy and tourism to drive socioeconomic development
An estimated 8 out of every 10 people live under light polluted skies, and have no access to the Milky Way. By harnessing the night sky as a backdrop for tourism experiences, we aim to drive economic growth, particularly in rural areas, honour local cultural perspectives, and preserve ecological assets, aligning with ecotourism and experience tourism.
By building sustainability, environmental consideration, and local relevance into night sky experiences, astrotourism can target travellers seeking authenticity and meaning. In 2022, the global ecotourism industry was valued at 172.4 billion U.S.dollars, and it’s anticipated to surge to 374.2 billion U.S. dollars by 2028.

Promotion and Awareness: Provide a platform to showcase the global astrotourism sector
Resources: Develop resources to encourage and support astronomy based tourism
Training: Offer free, online courses to support creation of astrotourism businesses and experiences
Community: Nurture an international community of stakeholders and peer group in astrotourism
Implementation: Fund projects to stimulate local growth and opportunities for communities in rural areas
Publications: Publish reports and undertake relevant research to study the impacts of astrotourism and support the case for astrotourism
