Mountains of Stars, founded in 2012 by Douglas Arion, PhD, promotes environmental awareness through astronomy. They offer programs like lectures, hands-on activities, and telescope sessions, engaging over 70,000 people and training numerous guides and students. A key achievement is helping establish the AMC Maine Woods International Dark Sky Park, protecting 100,000+ acres of dark skies in the U.S.

The organisation collaborates with environmental and educational groups across the northeastern U.S., hosting events at venues like AMC facilities and schools. They also run internships, training students as Astronomy and Nature Education Guides, with many advancing to careers in science and conservation.
